Professional Development Workshops

These workshops may be designed for either professional development or suited to meet therapeutic needs.

Loss and Grief

Loss and grief occur when something tangible is lost, but also when we make changes in identity or life direction, and come to terms with things we never had. An introduction to the use of art therapy in addressing loss and grief. Presentation and case study examples exploring grief and loss will be followed by spontaneous art-making as a means for personal exploration, growth and insight through symbolism and reflection.

Addressing Trauma and Abuse Through Art

An introduction to the use of the creative process in addressing trauma and abuse. Presentation and case study examples exploring the impact of abuse and trauma will be followed by spontaneous art-making as a means for personal exploration, growth and insight through symbolism and reflection.

The Creative Process in the Treatment of Addictions

This experiential training is designed for therapists and counsellors interested in the use of art therapy in the treatment of addictions and mental health issues. Participants will be introduced to an Intensive Day Treatment Model through visual presentation and discussion. There will be an opportunity to participate in art directives and practice debriefing the art.
